Oh the places you'll go

Kuala Lumpur

In Kuala Lumpur I stayed at a hostel.. that allowed me to have the nicest view in the whole city. I was able to see the entire city off of an infinity pool on the 34th floor. I was able to see the Petronas Towers light up and the entire skyline. I visited KL twice on my trip.. and the second time around I went to walk the Bintag street with a friend. It was somewhat like Khao San Road.. lively with entertainment and good food.

I then took the local KL express skytrain to the bus station. Where I got onto a bus for about 35 ringgit for a three hour drive to Cameron Highlands.

Cameron Highlands

I met a few locals from KL who were there for a weekend get away. They showed me around town a bit, we went to a waterfall and they introduced me to their local drink : Tea Tarik! Which was sooo delicious!

Tea Plantation

I visited Ipoh/BOH Tea Plantations. This was acres and acres of lush tea plants and then we got to sit at the top and enjoy the scenery with delicious tea.

Mossy Forest

Here I met some locals from back home.. East Coast Newfoundlanders! We kidded about how we have these forests back home in Canada and it was nothing spectacular. I mean Stanley Park could well be called Mossy Forest right?

Strawberry farm

Rajus Strawberry farm was a must from all the locals and travellers I had met.. maybe it was just us.. but none of me or my mates found it to be anything extraordinary..

Penang/GeorgeTown

Street Art

You will find street art on every corner you turn. The street art captures so many local stories and images and are sooo beautiful. You can grab a local map from any of the hostels or stores and make your way around.

Little India

This is a small portion of the city that's devoted mainly to South Indian culture. I was able to find a North Indian restaurant there called "Sardarji" and enjoyed a meal that tasted like something Mum would make!

Penang Hill

Generally Penang Hill has a train that runs all the way from the bottom to the top.. It is known to be the steepest train that runs up. Unfortunately the day my two friends and I wanted to go up.. it was shut down. So we ended up hiking 5 km up a very very steep hill. Once we got up there.. we all agreed it was sooo worth it. The sky was purple and the city lights were shining so brightly. The walk back down was not easy.. our knees were giving up and we were finding ways to distract ourselves. You best believe we treated our selves to some tasty Mexican food right after.

Penang National Park

I decided that Penang Hill wasn't enough for my legs.. and did a trail the next day. I walked through this beautiful park doing a trail that lead to the turtle sanctuary. I got to see little turtles and sat by the beach listening to some music. That was short-lived.. because a stray dog started doing circles around me. I mean I dealt with many stray dogs and cats during my travel.. but this one didn't seem to quit. He was not leaving until he got some food. As I tried to get up.. he started tugging on my bag and following me. Luckily a local called me in and called for a boat to take me back to the starting point as he didn't want the dog to follow me. The boat ride back was sooo much fun because the waves were a bit strong and we were jumping up and down out of the seats. Once I got back to the main gate... I saw that the same dog was there!! HOW DID HE GET BACK THERE IN THAT SAME TIME?! We made eye contact and I saw my life flash before my eyes. I ran and got onto a bus as fast as I could. Thank god it was the bus I needed to get back home.

Langkawi

When I reached Langkawi.. I had no idea where to go. My gps stopped working.. so I had to ask these two girls where they were headed and if we could share a ride if our hostels were in the same area. What a random coincidence but we happened to be staying at the same hostel and instantly became friends. We called ourselves the two Brits and the Canadian

Sky Bridge

We visited the sky bridge over lush forests and water. We got to ride the cable car as well, which was a lot like the gondola back home. We also got to see a fascinating 3D museum which we could not get enough pictures of.

Waterfall

There was a nice waterfall and a "slide" near by the skybridge. Omg this was sooooo much fun and we had such a blast hanging out here.

JetSkiing

Ok no no no. Absolutely not. I was so scared.. I'm not the strongest swimmer. There is no way I'm going to go on this thing that goes crazy speeds and is in the middle of the ocean. Thank god for those two brits because this was the best decision ever! I got on and drove out into the sea! Boy was this the most thrill seeking adrenaline rushing experience ever!!! This is where I snorkelled for the fourth time!!
